Senior Civil Engineer

Engineering Resources of Southern California, Inc. (ERSC) seeks an experienced Senior Civil Engineer (Engineer IV/Engineer V) to join our Engineering team in Redlands, CA.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned civil engineering professional with strong public works experience who can serve as a senior technical contributor, lead designer, and mentor to junior staff while supporting project managers and principal engineers. Depending on experience, the position may be filled at the Engineer IV or Engineer V level. Both levels require sound professional judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a collaborative, public‑agency‑focused environment.

Perform, direct, and supervise civil engineering design work for public works and capital improvement projects, exercising independent professional judgment.
Serve as lead designer on assigned projects under the direction of a Project Manager or Principal Engineer.
Design and coordinate improvements related to grading, drainage, water and wastewater systems, storm drain facilities, roadways, transportation, and traffic‑related infrastructure.
Supervise and mentor engineers, designers, and technical staff; assign tasks and review work for quality and completeness.
Assist project managers with developing design alternatives, technical approaches, schedules, staffing needs, and budgets.
Participate in meetings and coordination efforts with local, state, and federal agencies, clients, and stakeholders.
Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, calculations, plans, and specifications.
Support proposal development and preparation of professional services agreements.
Assist with or support construction management activities, as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned by Project Managers, Managing Engineers, or Principal Engineers.

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
Engineer IV: Typically 8+ years of progressive civil engineering experience in public works.
Engineer V: Typically 15+ years of civil engineering experience, including supervisory or team leadership responsibilities.
Experience with municipal or public‑agency projects involving water, wastewater, storm drain, grading, and transportation infrastructure.
California Professional Civil Engineer (PE) license preferred; Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) required.
Strong working knowledge of applicable engineering codes, standards, regulations, and construction practices.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and AutoCAD / AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational ability.
Demonstrated ability to mentor staff and collaborate effectively across disciplines

Salary Range: $80,000 - $125,000 (Negotiable DOE/Q)
